Who Am I?

Hello, to all of you that have come across my blog. I am delighted you are here.

I would love to introduce myself to you. Please know that I will adjust this post to always be the most updated version of my academic and professional experience.

Who Am I?

My name is Tyla. If you think that this is a typo, please don't be alarmed because my name is truly Tyla. I like to say like Tyler but with an -a.

Now I won't just leave you with my name but also some information about me. One of my biggest passions in life is Public Relations which is why my blog is titled "That One PR Girl". Please feel free to also find me on Twitter or Instagram under the same name. Feel free to reach out to me any time.

My second biggest interest in life is education. Maybe you already know me from my other blog? I have a blog called "What They Didn't Teach Us In High School" where I help guide those who are on the path to secondary education. You see, I am the first woman in my family to go to college straight after high school and a first-generation American on my mother's side. My mother was told that she was not to go to college because women are only meant to be come wives and mothers. Ever since my mother shared this with me, I have been on the path of resistance to become a highly educated woman. In May 2022 I will be earning my bachelor's degree in Communications with a concentration in Public Relations at the age of 20. I have begun looking for a master's degree and hope to have a master's degree before I turn 22.

Moving on from education though, I have had the incredible honor and privilege to have many amazing jobs that have furthered me professionally. Reflecting back to my first job as an employee for a food chain and now four years later being a PR Coordinator, I have come a long way. I have worked as a teacher for a school district in Texas, as an Administrative Assistant to a Communications Department and a Public Relations Intern. I still teach as a German teacher for a private organization just because I love to teach. I mention all this because I want you as my reader to know that I am not a PR professional with 15 years of experience but rather a 20-year-old girl with a passion driving her to learn as much as she can about the profession, she feels at home in. I might not have 15 years of PR experience but every job I have had has helped me become better at what I love doing.

Lastly, I would like to mention some quick side notes about myself. I am originally from Germany and moved to the US five years ago. Additionally, I speak German and the most basic version of Spanish. And most importantly, I have a three-year-old rescue do that might make a cameo on either my social media or blog ever once and awhile.

Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy this blog.
